Construction Update : September 26-28

On Friday, September 26, a work crew will beginning pouring concrete for the new library entrance near the Main Street elevators on the 4th floor of the One Main Building. This work will continue throughout the weekend. When possible, the work has been scheduled for hours when the library is closed, but some noise may be audible in library study areas on the 5th floor during library hours.

Music of Africa and Asia

The library recently received a new batch of compact discs that present recordings of traditional music from Africa and Asia. The discs are available in the CD cabinet in the library computer lab.

Grants and Financial Aid

The library's Find Articles (Databases) page now has a much-expanded section for resources on Grants and Financial Aid. The expanded content includes resources for small business grants and funding, education grants, research grants, and student financial aid. In addition to standard web sites like Grants.gov and the TexasOnline eGrants Search, our guide offers links to electronic sources purchased by the library and lists of related books available in the library collections.

Encyclopedia of Bilingual Education

The Encyclopedia of Bilingual Education (Sage Publications, 2008) is now available online as part of the Gale Virtual Reference Library. This encyclopedia covers the theory and practice of bilingual education in the United States from the last half of the 20th century to the present.  Topics include accommodation theory, code switching, costs of bilingual education, dual-language programs, and much more. There are also many entries on influential educators, court cases, and statutes. Look for the Encyclopedia of Bilingual Education on the library's Education Databases page.

Encyclopedia of Police Science

The Encyclopedia of Police Science (3rd Edition) is now available from ebrary. This standard reference work covers the latest scientific knowledge about key issues in policing. Each entry offers an introduction to one issue along with a substantial list of articles and books for further reading.

Look for this encyclopedia on our Criminal Justice page (starting September 9).
