Job Opening: Circulation and Reference Librarian
The University of Houston-Downtown is seeking an excellent candidate for the position of Circulation/Reference Librarian. UHD enrolls over 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students and offers daytime, evening, and weekend courses through both classroom and various technology-enabled mediums. Basic Duties:
- Directly supervises staff of 6 FTE Library Assistants and indirectly oversees 10+ work-study student employees;
- Ensures Circulation's public service desk is staffed when the library is open;
- Administers and analyzes procedures related to lending and return of library materials;
- Communicates with peers at other University of Houston System libraries to establish common practices and clarify local differences relating to automated library system;
- Oversees and resolves billing and customer service issues, reserves, patron information, and shelving and stack maintenance;
- Provides reference services and one-on-one instruction to students, faculty and other affiliated patrons;
- Teaches library instruction classes;
- Serves as subject librarian and faculty liaison; and
- All other duties as assigned.
Basic Requirements:
- Must have at least an Advanced/Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution; and
- Must have a minimum of 2 years related work experience.
