With its coverage of 2.4 million doctoral dissertations and master's theses, this database is an essential repository of scholarship in almost every field of study. For older documents, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses provides a short absract. For more than 930,000 documents from 1997 to present, it offers access to the full text in PDF format.

Women in World History: A Biographical Encyclopedia

The Gale Virtual Reference Library database now includes the 17-volume ebook collection Women in World History: A Biographical Encyclopedia. This set offers substantial biographies of more than 10,000 women from around 3100 BCE to the modern age. Biographies cover women from every walk of life and every corner of the world. Each biography has a list of related books, videos, and archival collections. Look for the Gale Virtual Reference Library in the Find Articles (Databases) section of the library website.

Oxford Reference Online

Oxford Reference Online has been added to the UHD Library's online collections. This database offers English language dictionaries and thesauruses, bilingual dictionaries, and quotation dictionaries, plus specialized subject dictionaries in art, biology, literature, and many other fields.

EBSCOhost 2.0

EBSCOhost has released a new version of its popular database system. EBSCOhost 2.0 introduces a new look to databases such as Academic Search Complete, America: History & Life, Communication & Mass Media Complete, ERIC, MEDLINE, MLA International Bibliography, PsycINFO, and SocINDEX. At first, the changes will be cosmetic -- a simplified search screen, a different way of displaying search results, and easy access to the popular "How to Cite" feature. Later in 2008, EBSCOhost will use Google search technology to rank search results by relevance.

New ScienceDirect Journals

We are pleased to announce the UHD debut of 42 electronic journals from ScienceDirect. The journals are drawn from the fields of accounting, biology, business, computer science, criminal justice, education, history, and mathematics. Each one is available with archives starting in 1995.

In the future, we hope add more electronic journals and electronic books from the ScienceDirect collections. If you would like to suggest the purchase of a particular title, we would love to hear from you. Please add your feedback as a comment to this message or use our Ask a Librarian link.
